LSC's quarterly report of the Lithuanian securities market, Q 2 2007

According to the data of 30 June 2007, the Securities Commission (hereinafter – the Commission) was supervising 70 issuers (79 as of 31 March 2007).  

  

During Q2, 54 bond issues were distributed in the primary corporate debt securities market the total nominal value whereof reached LTL 629.1 m (48 bond issues during the corresponding quarter of the previous year with the value of LTL 2.18 bn).  

 

During Q2, 2007 the market capitalisation increased by 10 percent (from LTL 30.5 bn to LTL 33.5 bn). The gross OMX Vilnius index during the quarter increased by 7.98 percent, and the total Stock Exchange turnover decreased from LTL 1.4 to LTL 0.6 bn.

 

During the period the Securities Commission approved a single circulars the takeover bid intended to purchase the securities of the issuer.

   

As of 31 March 2007, the investment services in Lithuania were provided by 13 financial brokerage firms and 9 divisions of commercial banks providing investment services.

 

During Q4, 2006, holders of licences to distribute investment units in the Lithuanian collective investment undertakings market included: 1 investment company with variable capital, 28 investment funds, 54 foreign investment funds. Pension accumulation companies were managing 30 pension funds accumulating part of the State social insurance contributions (2nd pillar), management companies continued to operate 6 supplementary voluntary pension accumulation funds (3rd pillar). As of the end of the accounting period 12 management companies were operating in the market.

 

As of the accounting date 281 financial brokerage licence holders were operating in the Lithuanian securities market, including 145 licensed as general financial brokers, 101 holders of the financial broker-consultant licenses, and 26 persons holders of broker-trader licences.
