Vilija Nausėdaitė resigned

On 6 of November 2009, Vilija Nausėdaitė, the chairwoman of the Lithuanian Securities Commission, resigned. The President of the Republic of Lithuania as well as the Parliament (Seimas) of the Republic of Lithuania fulfilled V. Nausėdaitė‘s request to recall her. Currently Vaidas Cibas is the chairman at interim.

“It is time to meet new challenges and get new experience after 9 years work at the various positions in the Lithuanian Securities Commission,” said Vilija Nausėdaitė.

V. Nausėdaitė will be working at the law firm.

“I wish my colleagues enthusiasm and toughness in continuing to implement our initiatives, especially in the regulation of pension funds seeking for a safer and cheaper system. I hope that the Securities Commission will continue to be a modern institution actively defending the interests of investors and fostering values and responsibility in the financial sector,” said V. Nausėdaitė.

The chairman of the Securities Commission is appointed and recalled by the Parliament upon the submission of the President.
